Read and Write

Is your child struggling with reading, writing, or spelling?

Learning challenges like Dyslexia or Dysgraphia can make these skills harder to master, especially when traditional school methods don’t work for every student. But with the right support, your child can build confidence and succeed.

How we help:
We begin with a comprehensive assessment to understand your child’s unique strengths and challenges. This includes evaluating phonological awareness, decoding, encoding, and grapheme knowledge.

Personalized Plan for Success:
Based on the assessment, we create an individual learning plan tailored to your child’s needs. We use proven, evidence-based phonics programs recommended by SPELD Queensland, Learning Difficulties Australia and the International Dyselxia Association, ensuring your child gets the best support available.

Core Focus Areas:
We focus on the five essential pillars of literacy:

  • Phonemic Awareness

  • Phonics

  • Fluency

  • Vocabulary

  • Comprehension

Interactive, Engaging Sessions:
Through interactive lessons and evidence of success, we keep your child engaged and motivated. We use multiple strategies to ensure your child truly understands each concept and experiences regular success.

Building Confidence & Independence:
Our approach empowers your child to advocate for their learning needs, helping them feel more confident in school. With plenty of time, practice, and repetition, we work to ensure your child masters reading and spelling, quickly and effectively. Parent involvement in sessions guarantees you understand what your child needs to be successful and empowers you to advocate for and support your child.

Math

Is your child struggling with math?

Dyscalculia can make concepts like counting, number sequences, time-telling, and math operations challenging. Many children also face difficulty with math vocabulary and word problems. These challenges can be further complicated by math anxiety, which often co-occurs and is worsened by rote learning (like times tables), timed tests, and inadvertently competitive classroom environments.

How we help:
We start with an interactive assessment that not only checks for accuracy but also focuses on how your child approaches problem-solving. This helps us understand their thinking process and identify areas that need support.

Building a Strong Foundation:
We focus on strengthening the fundamental concepts that math skills are built upon. We understand that key math concepts build on one another, and skipping steps or rushing through them can create difficulties in later grades. We utilise researched models of explicit teaching drawing on work by Steve Chinn, Ronit Bird, Judith Hornigold and Math U See.

Stress-Free Learning:
By using evidence-based teaching strategies and applying cognitive load theory, we ensure your child fully grasps each concept before moving on. We take the time to review until the concept is fully understood and retained, without the pressure of keeping up with the curriculum. We utilise concrete materials as much as possible to bring a deeper understanding of abstract concepts.

Thrive

Is your child struggling with focus, organization, or task completion?

Learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom. Children with learning difficulties, including ADHD, often face challenges that extend into everyday life. These can include trouble with communication, self-regulation, breaking tasks into manageable steps, and staying organized.

Executive Function Support:
Many children with learning difficulties also struggle with executive function, which impacts their ability to control impulses, plan and execute tasks, and stay on track. They often know what they need to do but find it difficult to get started and finish the task.

How we help:
Our professional ADHD coaching, delivered by a qualified therapist, is designed to support children of all ages who are frustrated by these challenges. Through personalized sessions, we help them develop the skills they need to plan, organize, and follow through.

Empowering Parents:
We also work with parents, teaching them how to provide effective scaffolding at the point of activity. By providing externalising resources and compensating for reducing frustrations and implementing strategies that support your child’s strengths, you can see higher success in academic, social, and everyday situations.

Understanding a Diagnosis:
Receiving a diagnosis for your child can be overwhelming. We’re here to help you make sense of the reports and guide you through what this diagnosis means for your child—and your family. We provide clear, practical advice on how to support your child’s development both at home and at school. We guide you through the maze of information out there pointing you toward highly effective supports and away from costly offerings that offer little in practical returns.

“I am so thankful for the time Tara spent working with my son. Not just for the improvement showed in his maths, but for the confidence gained through realising that he is not broken, just learns differently from others. Tara's understanding, patience, care and kindness were what he needed most, the maths strategies were just a bonus. I cannot recommend Tara highly enough.”

Reach out and we’ll call you back.
